“Good Physicians” Don’t Succumb to Small Things Like Infections

I lay in my bed, hazy and feverish, chilled and shaky, coughing, wheezing, and groaning with mastery.  I got sick with the usual symptoms that accompany a fairly headstrong infectious process.  And I whined – in my innermost world and out loud.  I admit it.  I had finally thrown up my hands and taken to my bed, complaining all the way.

What I discovered during this experience was an incredible polarity of inner feelings that I had suspected before, but had never fully allowed into consciousness.
