Her latest book with Dr. Rotering is The Language of Caring Guide for Physicians: Communication Essentials for Patient-Centered Care. Also Wendy serves on the Executive Board of The Beryl Institute.

On the Healthcare Experience: Wendy is a breast-cancer survivor and has been a watchful and engaged family member through the prolonged, life-threatening illnesses of her grandparents, sister, mother, and friends. She has experienced firsthand the powerful impact of effective and empathic communication on the patient and family experience, patients’ clinical outcomes, patient safety, risk reduction, healthcare team effectiveness, and physician and staff well-being.

What I enjoy: I relish my relationships with family, friends, longtime colleagues and especially my four grandchildren. I also love writing, learning, swimming, reading and messing about in boats.

Favorite Quote: “At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” – Albert Schweitzer
